PostHeaderIcon Steve Oliver – World Citizen

Hello, thank you for comming by. Please grab a rss feed and visit often.

Steve Oliver blew a passionate Global Kiss to fans everywhere on his 2010 album release, scoring two number 1 hits (Global Kiss and Fun In The Sun) on the Billboard chart. Further defining his unique role as a musical World Citizen. On his latest collection, the dynamic guitarist and vocalist keeps the universal spirit alive. On World Citizen, Oliver creates an amazing array of sounds with his guitar, guitar synth and voice (singing three lead vocals and many wordless passages), and introduces his skills on the violin on Fiesta.

He invites along several of the key musicians who made Global Kiss an invigorating triumph, including longtime collaborator, keyboardist Tom Schuman, and Trinidad born drummer/percussionist Bonny B (both from Spyro Gyra). Also making notable appearances are saxophonists Paul Taylor, Andrew Neu and Will Donato. Bassists Eddie Reddick, Donald Philips, KT Tyler and Billy Sherwood (from the legendary band Yes); and Moody Blues keyboardist Alan Hewitt on the Hammond B-3 organ on the funky and bluesy, brass splashed opening track Watching The World, which is the album s first single.

No Oliver recording would be complete without a batch of high energy tunes showcasing his infectious, husky lead vocals, which he delivers on World Citizen via How Will You Know (an incisive powerful song which questions ‘know it all types’ who speak of things they have never experienced themselves). The empowering soul-jazz anthem New Possibilities (featuring optimistic lyrics co-written by Oliver and Grammy winning singer/songwriter Jim Peterik, of Ides of March and Survivor fame).

Oliver comments: “I came up with the title World Citizen while I was recording Global Kiss and felt that the concept would lend itself to an expansive musical landscape and where I could really explore a lot of exciting and fertile territory as a composer. ” Steve has scored numerous airplay hits and nominations for Best New Artist and Best Guitar Player, both in the US and Canada. World Citizen is an amazing statement from a passionate Artist.

PostHeaderIcon Pete Gitlin – Amplify

Hello, thank you for comming by. Please grab a rss feed and visit often.

Coming Together Records proudly announces Amplify, the second release from Phoenix-based guitarist and composer Pete Gitlin. Following up on “Full Circle and the Great Temptation”, and its #1 hit “Sunshine Days”, Amplifys takes out new ground in the alternative jazz genre. Early previews of the CD describe it as “the Sgt. Pepper of smooth jazz”, in that each of the ten tracks are very different, and yet they hang together as an inspiring and uplifting work.

Far from playing it safe, Gitlin and his producer, John Herrera, from the legendary Arizona fusion band Turning Point, have crafted a dizzying array of styles and songs, from the pure smooth jazz of the joyous single “Lucky in Love”, to the neo-soul of “Soul Connection”, to the raunchy beat of “Reggaetown”, to the country/jazz feel of “Cowboys and Indians”, to the Philly-soul sound of “Until the Morning Comes”. A truly unique work, with production and excitement rare in the smooth jazz genre.

The Sgt. Pepper of smooth jazz! Ten diverse tracks, featuring Pete on guitar, joined by incredible musicians and vocalists, including Cindy Bradley, Jeff Kashiwa, Dominic Amato and Dennis Rowland.

PostHeaderIcon Brian Bromberg – Compared To That

Hello, thank you for comming by. Please grab a rss feed and visit often.

Brian Bromberg is one of the top five bassists worldwide. The GRAMMY nominated bass player grew up in a world of jazz. He already performed in early years with area jazz bands and symphonies. Although some of his twenty solo albums are settled in the smooth jazz realm, his musical love was always devoted to straight ahead jazz. “I still love playing with straight-ahead jazz artists and I want to do more acoustic, mainstream jazz albums myself.”

Brian’s new album Compared To That is such a mainstream jazz album, which also respects the desire for smooth jazz elements. The album was recorded live in between two days. Recording artists were beside Brian Alex Acuna, Gannin Arnold, Charlie Bisharat, Randy Brecker, Vinnie Colaiuta, George Duke, Bela Fleck, Mitch Forman, Larry Goldings, Jeff Lorber, Gary Meek and Tom Zink.

Fast paced, horn driven, bass loaded, that is the introducing Compared To That. Bromberg excels on Upright bass with impressive dexterity. Jeff Lorber brings with his signature piano virtuosity the piece to breathtaking highs.
